Eileen Goodin, Partner

Eileen Goodin has been with Barkan Neff Handelman Meizlish, LLP, for over 28 years.  She began working for the firm while still in law school and is now a partner and manager of the Ohio Social Security department.  Ms. Goodin received her undergraduate degree, cum laude, in Criminal Justice Studies from Kent State University in 1977.  While at Kent State, she was very active in residence hall government and served as president of Kent Interhall Council for two years.  Ms. Goodin obtained her law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1980.  Eileen was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1980 and to the Louisiana bar in 1985.   Ms. Goodin is also admitted to United States District Courts in Ohio and Louisiana and to the Sixth and Eleventh Circuits Courts of Appeal. 

Ms. Goodin has over 28 years experience in social security disability law and frequently lectures and teaches on social security issues.  She has represented disability and SSI Claimants at all levels of the administrative process including over 3500 Social Security and black lung hearings and administrative and federal court appeals.  Eileen is an adjunct instructor for Capital University Law School where she teaches Social Security law in the paralegal, legal nurse consulting, and life care planner programs.  In 1999, Ms. Goodin was in charge of the firm’s pro bono project that was the recipient of the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation Presidential Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service. 

Ms. Goodin is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) and is also a member of the Ohio State, Louisiana State, and Columbus bar associations, the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Women Lawyers of Franklin County.  Eileen is a life member and active supporter of the Girl Scouts of the USA.  Eileen lives in Columbus and is an avid fan of Ohio State football and women’s basketball.

Kevin Hartman, Partner

Kevin Hartman is the partner in charge of our Florida Social Security Practice and has extensive experience in the areas of Social Security Disability and SSI rights.  Mr. Hartman received his undergraduate business administration degree specializing in finance in 1987 from Florida International University.  After working some years after college, Kevin went back to school to earn his law degree from Nova University in 1994.  Kevin is admitted to the Supreme Court of Florida, the United States District Court’s Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Hartman is also professionally affiliated with the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives (NOSSCR) as well has the Florida and Hillsborough County Bar Associations. Within his local community, Mr. Hartman is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council Number 6724 in Brandon, Florida, as well as the Metropolitan Ministries. In 2005 Kevin was also a judge for the Tampa Bay Teen Summit Scholarship Competition.

Kevin currently resides with his wife and daughter in the Tampa area.

Monica Ferraro, Partner

Monica Ferraro is a partner in our Louisiana Social Security Disability/SSI Practice. She is admitted to practice in front of the Supreme Court of Louisiana and the United States District Courts of Eastern and Middle Districts of Louisiana.   Ms. Ferraro was born in Italy where she was educated through the parochial schools as a child and once presented a bouquet of flowers to Pope John Paul II.  She obtained her legal degree overseas from the University of Padua, Italy (1992). The University of Padua is an internationally recognized center for legal study that has been around since 1222.  Since the university’s existence, it has bestowed upon its students instruction from the likes of Galileo and Copernicus. After practicing in Italy, Ms. Ferraro moved to New Orleans where in 1998 she obtained her certification to practice law in Louisiana.

Since moving to the United States, Ms. Ferraro has continually and successfully represented Social Security Disability and SSI Clients in Louisiana. Her success has translated to her becoming a frequent lecturer upon these practices.

Ms. Ferraro is professionally involved with the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives (NOSSCR).  Within the local community Ms. Ferraro involves herself with the Humane Society of Louisiana and in the global community Amnesty International.
