Attorney Michelle Marcus began her exclusive practice in Social Security law and disability claims in 1991, joining attorney Irwin Portnoy in practice. She graduated from the Albany Law School of Union University, where she was an editor of the Law Review. After beginning her legal career with the firm of Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon, she was elected president of the Rockland County Women's Bar Association in 1998 and served in that position for two years.
Mr. Portnoy has practiced in the field of administrative law for over 30 years. In 1980, he was appointed a Social Security administrative law judge (ALJ). In 1989, he started a private practice in the area of Social Security law and disability claims. Mr. Portnoy is a graduate of NYU Law School, and has a Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Labor Law. He was a supervising trial attorney and specialist with the National Labor Relations Board from 1961 to 1980.
Ms. Holt has been practicing Social Security Disability law at our firm since 2005. She graduated from the Cardozo School of Law in 1993. After receiving her law degree, Ms. Holt worked for numerous New York City Council's committees, including Health and Aging. Prior to joining us, as the as the Director of Client Services at the Medicare Rights Center, she represented people with Medicare questions and problems.
